TIE card collection: booking the pickup appointment
Your card has been produced and you now need a second appointment just to pick it up. It is a separate booking from the fingerprints one, and in the busiest provinces it is just as hard to get.
The essentials
| Official procedure code | 4036 — Recogida de Tarjeta de Identidad de Extranjero |
|---|---|
| Is it the same as fingerprints? | No. Fingerprints (4010) is the first appointment; collection is a second, separate one |
| Which province? | The one that processed your file. Under art. 209.11 of RD 1155/2024 the card is issued where your application was handled — you cannot pick it up elsewhere |
| How long is the wait? | Typically 30 to 45 days from fingerprints, but it varies by office |
| Can someone collect it for me? | Only with a notarised authorisation, and offices apply this strictly |
What to bring
| Document | Notes |
|---|---|
| Passport, original | Not a copy |
| Fingerprints receipt | The paper they gave you at the first appointment |
| Resolution granting your permit | The favourable decision on your application |
| Appointment confirmation | Printed or on your phone |
Do not let it lapse
Once the card is produced it waits for you at the office, but it does not wait indefinitely. Leaving it uncollected can mean repeating parts of the process. If you cannot find a collection slot, that is exactly the situation continuous monitoring is for.
What we actually do
We monitor the official ICPPlus site for collection slots in your province and alert you by email, Telegram and — on VIP — SMS the moment one appears. You do the booking. We never book for you.
Frequently asked
Can I collect the card in a different province?
No. Article 209.11 of RD 1155/2024 ties issuance to the office that processed your file. Changing your registered address does not move the card.
Why do I need a second appointment at all?
The card is physically produced after your fingerprints are taken, so collection is necessarily a later, separate step.
How fast do I have to be?
Slots typically last 60 to 120 seconds in busy provinces. That is why the VIP plan adds SMS.
